Interested in joining the Alburtis Fire Dept?
The Alburtis Fire Dept is always looking for new members. We are a small department and run about 150 calls a year. You must be at least 14 years old to join. No prior experience is required. The Alburits Fire Dept provides all required training. The Alburtis Fire Dept also provides all necessary equipment, including fire gear and a pager.
The following positions are available at the Alburtis Fire Dept.
Interior Firefighter
An interior fire fighter is a fire fighter who can wear an air pack and enters burning buildings. This job requires many hours of training. An interior fire fighter is also expected to handle all other aspects of the fire service explained below.
Exterior Firefighter
An exterior firefighter is a firefighter who does not want to or is unable to enter burning buildings. These people are still a valuable asset to the fire department and provide support services on the fire ground.
Driver / Pump Operator
A driver/pump operator is responsible for safely getting personnel to the scene and if necessary pumping the truck. The driver must also know how to operate all the equipment carried on the trucks.
Fire Police
Fire police are responsible for directing traffic and providing crowd control at incidents.
EMS Personnel / Vehicle Rescue Tech.
The Alburtis fire dept also responds Quick Response Service (QRS) to certain EMS incidents in our first due area including motor vehicle accidents and serious medical calls. EMS personnel can also provide rehab at fire scenes.
Inactive personnel
Inactive personnel are people who do not want to do any of the above but would still like to help out around the station. This can include fund raising, maintaining the trucks and building. Etc...
